We are delighted to welcome Gonzalo Sánchez Arriaga, Full Professor and Director of the Bachelor in Aerospace Engineering at UC3M, for an exciting discussion on:
“Electrodynamic Tethers for Space Debris Removal and Emerging Commercial Markets”

Prof. Sánchez Arriaga is a leading researcher in electrodynamic tethers, plasma physics, and space sustainability. He holds degrees in aerospace engineering and astrophysics and received the Extraordinary PhD Award from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid for
his work on electrodynamic tethers. He led about 20 European and National research projects, including the coordination of three projects on electrodynamic tethers funded by the European Innovation Council (E.T.PACK, E.T.PACK-F and E.T.COMPACT) for a total
of 9.5M€.

As the space sector faces increasing challenges around orbital congestion and debris mitigation, this session will explore how electrodynamic tether technologies could become a key enabling capability for sustainable and commercially viable in-orbit operations.
